The Bridge of Sighs (at last)

The Bridge of Sighs (Ponte dei Sospiri), part of the Doge's Palace, Venice, Italy. The Bridge links the Palace on the left to the prison block on the right, so going across it was bad news for a lot of the Doge's opponents.

On my previous visit to Venice in 2008 I had been confronted by this

The Palace was being renovated and the Bridge was almost completely covered in very unsympathetic advertising hoardings so as to be unrecognisable.
