Description
Scottish Parliament from the West, just off the Royal Mile, Edinburgh, Scotland, April 2013.
It is well worth clicking "Download" to see the image as I uploaded it (1294 x 856 pixels, 485KB) as this contains more detail than can be seen here.
This is the least easily seen facade of the new Scottish Parliament building (confusingly called Holyrood House).
The design by the late Enric Miralles includes references to Scottish history, the landscape, to openness and sustainability. Despite that it is still rather enigmatic. This picture was taken in the morning so this wall is in its own shade and the sky rather bleached.
