Tyne Bridges, Newcastle-upon-Tyne / Gateshead, England, October 2009.
Newcastle is famous for its bridges, and here are the Tyne Bridge, Swing Bridge and High Level Bridge, with yet others behind them.
The surface of the river was unusually still for several periods that evening, allowing good reflections of the floodlighting. The sky was cloudy, so there is a lot of reflected sodium orange light. Unfortunately, the left half of the Tyne Bridge had its lighting turned off for maintenance work. A good excuse to go back again some other time!
Camera, Panasonic FX50. Exposure 3.2 seconds.
Constructive criticism welcome.

Thank you, I am glad you like it because it was looking at your pix and reading your comments that inspired me to take some pictures at night. Normally I only visit in the summer and leave before it gets dark.
Yes, the stillness of the river was a surprise. A lady even came up to me as I was taking pictures and told me how wonderful it looked.
Photography is like that. You turn up with your camera (and tripod!) and see what happens. On the one hand half the floodlighting on the Tyne Bridge was turned off, on the other the water was calmer than even local people could remember.
The general rule seems to be "take lots of photos, but only show the good ones to other people". On my two visits in October I took over 50 pictures but only about ten will make it onto dA.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

There are actually about 120 pictures in the series, of which only about 18 will make it to dA! But the idea remains the same.
