Colourful Houses at Burano

Burano is an island in the Venice Lagoon, not far from the main city. The houses are all painted bright colours for reasons that seem to have got lost in the mists of time. Note that the houses are also very different sizes, the orangey-red house in the centre of the picture is much smaller than the pink one nearest the camera.
